3 strategies you can use when feeling overwhelmed
Sometimes all of us feel overwhelmed. It feels like a big load on our shoulders. It gets harder to do the things we always do. Most of the time, we can not know why we feel this way, and we only suffer. This is a situation like this; you feel pain, but you don’t know where.
First of all, you have to find the reason.
Think about your family, your job, and your economic situation. Whichever one you think about increases your stress, this may be the source.
For example, if your stress level increases when you think about your job this might the reason. But don’t stop there. Think what is the situation about the job that makes you stressed. The answer might be a meeting where you need to make a presentation. Keep going because you can find the main reason here. For why, you may be afraid of being perceived as incompetent. Finding the main source will make it easier to find the solution.
The biggest reason of overwhelmed is unfinished business in the past.
There are hundreds of jobs that we have not completed in the past. Assess the things that you left unfinished in the past, and that bothers you.
I want to continue to explain through example the reasons of overwhelmed. For a while ago you wanted to play guitar and got one. Then you didn’t do anything about playing guitar. Every time you see the guitar in a corner of your house you might feel a failure.
You can have different guitars. There are 3 strategies that you can apply to other unfinished businesses that similar like in the guitar example.
1- If it’s something you can finish, finish it now.
If you want to play a guitar then find a course that fit your schedule and go there.Just take the action.
2- If it’s something you can’t do, get rid of it.
You may have wanted to play the guitar a while ago, but it is normal for your thoughts and interests to change. Changing your interest doesn’t make you unsuccessful. But you have to get rid of your guitar. Throw it away, sell it or give it to someone else. Seeing it all the time makes you overwhelmed. The solution is simple you should get rid of it.
3- Leave it to time.
Sometimes there is things you cannot done immediately. You might be busy, not find time to complete your unfinished business. When things are like this just leave it to time and take that business off your agenda. When the time comes when you can take care of it, start thinking about the job that bored you.
To get rid of overwhelmed, complete the unfinished business in your life, remove it from your life or leave it to time.
Unfinished business make us overwhelmed but seeing big pictures might us relief. Have you met people who have survived very serious illnesses? They are no longer stressed from the daily life’s works. because they fought much bigger problem.
Humanity has been experiencing the same problems as you for thousands of years. Look around, they all pass. Remind yourself that all your problems will pass with time.
Have you ever been stuck on a question in an exam? Your minutes have passed while dealing with that question, and you don’t have enough time for other questions. You are more likely to succeed if you drop that question, focus on the others, and then return to that question.
It’s like that in life. Sometimes we get too focused on one problem and miss other things. If we can’t solve our problem right now, it’s best to walk away and take a break. Don’t see taking a break as giving up. While taking break won’t make you feel super makes you more relaxed.
Remember, you came into this world with no one and nothing. When you leave, no one and nothing will come with you, too. So stop feeling sorry for them. Live in the moment and find a solution instead of being sad.
