As I sat in front of my laptop, struggling to find the courage to write, I stumbled upon some old TEDx talks that had helped me through difficult times in the past. Watching them again, I was reminded of how I had decided to change my life and search for help and inspiration, and I knew that I had to share these talks with others who might be feeling the same way.
For those who are unfamiliar, TEDx talks are independently organized events where speakers from a variety of backgrounds and experiences come together to share their ideas and perspectives on a wide range of topics. These talks can be incredibly powerful, offering insight and inspiration to those who need it most.
I highlight three talks that have had a profound impact on me: “The Power of Vulnerability” by Brené Brown, “Emotional Intelligence and the Laws of Attraction” by Dr. D Ivan Young, and “How to Stop Letting Fear Control Your Life” by Albert Hobohm. The first TEDx talk that helped me see the world differently was given by Dr. Brené Brown, a researcher and professor at the University of Houston. In her talk, Dr. Brown explores the concept of “Wholeheartedness,” asking us to consider how we can engage with our lives in a way that is authentic and worthy. Her words about cultivating courage, compassion, and connection in order to embrace our imperfections and recognize our worthiness have stayed with me to this day.
The second talk that left a lasting impact on me was given by Dr. D Ivan Young, a spiritual teacher and philosopher. Dr. Young speaks about the “Laws of Attraction,” connecting personality type to manifestation of our desires and purpose. His insights about how our creator gave us a unique personality type for a reason were enlightening and empowering, making me feel like I had control over my own destiny.
The third talk that helped me take control of my reality was given by Albert Hobohm, a lecturer and professional who operates at the intersection of psychology and business. His talk is focused on how we can stop our thoughts from controlling our lives and start taking charge of our mental operating systems. His words about alarming statistics and hands-on solutions resonated with me, motivating me to take action and make changes in my own life.
While there are countless other TEDx talks out there that are worth watching, these three have had a profound impact on my own personal growth and development. As I share them with others, I hope that they too will be inspired and encouraged to see the world in a new and different way.
